In Andhra Pradesh, Kurnool district, which was once the major Covid-19 hotspot in the state, crossed the 50,000 gross cases mark but more than 45,000 of the infected had already recovered.
Srikakulam district crossed the 30,000 mark, having over 6,600 active cases, according to the bulletin. In 24 hours, East Godavari, Prakasam and West Godavari reported more than 1,100 fresh positive cases while Chittoor had more than 900 additions. With nine new casualties, Chittoor crossed the 500 mark in overall toll, topping the state chart. Kadapa and SPS Nellore districts also reported nine fresh fatalities each, Krishna and Prakasam seven each and Anantapuramu six.

Telangana-based Bharat Biotech India (BBL) Friday said animal trials of Covaxin, its Covid-19 vaccine candidate, were successful. In a press release, the company said Covaxin generated “robust immune responses”. “The vaccine candidate was found to generate robust immune responses. Thus, preventing infection and disease in the primates upon high amounts of exposure to live SARS-CoV-2 virus,” the company stated, adding that the results “demonstrate the protective efficacy in a live viral challenge model”. Doctors at a hospital in Hyderabad claimed to have successfully performed the country's first double lung transplant surgery on a 32-year-old COVID-19 patient, who was suffering from sarcoidosis that affected his lungs. The team of doctors led by Dr Sandeep Attawar performed the complex procedure on the man from Chandigarh, a release from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) here said. Telangana registered 2,278 fresh COVID-19 cases and 10 related fatalities, taking the tally of infections to1.54 lakh in the state. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 331, followed by Rangareddy 184, Medchal Malkajgiri 150 and Nalgonda 126 districts, a government bulletin said on Saturday, providing data as of 8 PM on September 11. The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1.21 lakh while 32,005 are under treatment.
Andhra Pradesh on Friday broke the 10,000 cases chain that has been running for the past few weeks, with a fresh addition of 9,999 coronavirus cases in a day that saw more than 11,000 patients recovering from the infection. The latest update said 77 more Covid patients succumbed in 24 hours till 9 am on Friday. For the past few days, more number of Rapid Antigen Tests were being done than the RT-PCR tests, but the positives were turning out almost in equal numbers.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to hand over the investigation of the blaze of Antarvedi chariot incident to CBI in tune with the policy of transparency in governance. The fire mishap at Antavedi Sri Lakshinarasimha Swamy temple, in East Godavari district, where the temple chariot has caught fire will now be investigated by the Central Investigating agency.
Some political parties have demanded for a CBI probe and the Chief Minister in order to manifest transparency has instructed the DGP to hand over the case to the premier investigation agency. The DGP office has written a letter to this effect to Union Home Ministry seeking CBI probe into the Antarvedi incident. A GO to this effect will be issued.
The Chief Minister has taken the matter of arson at the temple seriously and when the State police have been trying their best, there was criticism from political and other groups casting aspersions on the State government in mainline and social media spreading falsehood.
Telangana recorded an additional 2,426 infections Friday along with 13 new fatalities, the state's Covid-19 bulletin said. With this the state's overall tally has been pushed to 1,52,602 cases and 940 fatalities. Out of the total infections, 32,195 are active cases while 1,19,467 people have recovered after testing positive. The state’s recovery rate further rose to 78.2 per cent while its case fatality rate stood at 0.61 per cent, unchanged from the previous day.
*Chittoor district turned out 100 per cent asymptomatic, Anantapuramu 99.5 per cent, Krishna 99.4 per cent, Guntur and Srikakulam 98.5 per cent each and Kurnool 98.3 per cent.
*Prakasam, which is on a steep ascent, showed 90.9 per cent of the positive cases to be asymptomatic.
*SPS Nellore had the lowest levels of Sero prevalence at 8.2 per cent, West Godavari 12.3 per cent, Prakasam 17.6 per cent.
*East Godavari, the state topper with over 72,000 cases and one of the highest infected in the country, had a Sero prevalence of 14.4 per cent.
*Vizianagaram, which was the last district in the state to report a Covid-19 case, had the highest 30.6 per cent Sero prevalence, according to the survey report.
*Kurnool, once the major hotbed in the state, showed a prevalence of 28.1 per cent.

A sero survey in Andhra Pradesh has revealed that close to 20 per cent of the state's population has developed antibodies for SARS-COV-2. The sero survey that included 5,000 people showed that 19.7 per cent of people developed immunity against the virus. Disclosing the survey findings, AP Commissioner for Health and Family Welfare Katamaneni Bhaskar said 22.5 per cent population in urban areas and 18.2 per cent in rural acquired immunity for Covid-19.(With PTI)
