Two persons were arrested near Inder Lok Metro station on Friday,for allegedly cheating an a 75-year-old woman,Jaswant Kaur.
Jagdeep Singh (33) and Naresh Kumar Verma (23),allegedly cheated Kaur of Rs 2.20 lakh. Police said Rs 1.10 lakh and a gold chain was recovered from the duo.
The two men told police that Kaur wanted to get a new electric meter installed. Jagdeep and Naresh made her sign two cheques for Rs 60 each for buying the new meter. The amount was written using erasable ink , said DCP (Railways) Sanjay Bhatia.
They erased the amount on one of the cheques,filled in Rs 2.20 lakh and withdrew the amount.
