On Tuesday afternoon, two women were allegedly trapped inside a sauna at a clubhouse in a Noida residential complex for over half an hour — before they managed to escape by breaking the lock.

The incident took place at Tata Eureka Park Society in Sector 150. The two women had entered the sauna around 12.30 pm for a scheduled 30-minute session. However, when they tried to come out, the door was stuck.

“We tried to unlock it multiple times, but couldn’t. We shouted and banged on the door, hoping someone would hear us but no one came,” claimed one of the women.

With no response from the society’s management or security staff, they said they began to panic as the steam kept filling the small room, making it difficult to breathe. “Nearly 30 minutes later, we broke through a section of the false ceiling, pulled out a metal rod, and used it to break the lock,” one of them said.

A video recorded by the women after the incident shows the damaged steam room.

Following the incident, residents of the society alleged that despite paying a hefty maintenance charge, they don’t get proper facilities. “We pay hefty maintenance and membership fees, yet there was no one around to help. The emergency system clearly failed,” a resident claimed.

An official spokesperson of Tata Housing told The Indian Express that no one sustained injuries in the incident.
