A 45-year-old property dealer was allegedly shot dead Friday in Greater Noida, said the police, who are yet to identify the accused and the cause of the murder.

According to the police, the property dealer was identified as Mahipal, a resident of Bambawad village of Greater Noida.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Badlapur Station House Officer Amit Kumar said the police have initiated an investigation into the case.

“On Friday, information was received at the police station in Badalpur through Dial-112 about an unknown person found injured. On receiving the information, the local police immediately took the injured person to the hospital, where he was declared dead by the doctor,” said the officer.

Kumar said there were two gunshot wounds on Mahipal’s chest and his body was found dumped in the service lane of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

“He was mainly a farmer and had a land holding of 8 bighas in Greater Noida, and he occasionally sold his property. We are looking into all necessary aspects, including family and property disputes,” Kumar said.

The SHO said the police are scanning CCTV footage of the area and taking all further legal proceedings. “The forensic team was called to inspect the spot and the evidence was collected.
