Now, residents can process and renew fire permits and licensing through a single online portal, from the comfort of their house, without any hassle.
Calling the initiative an important milestone in advancing transparent and technology-driven governance, Gupta said it would enhance the ease of doing business in the Capital.
Developed jointly by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the Delhi government, the portal modernises and streamlines the fire safety renewal process in a fundamental way, said officials.
Through this portal, processing of fire permits, licensing, and other statutory approvals have been simplified, made more transparent, and integrated through a single-window mechanism, officials added.
Before the launch of the portal, renewal of FSC was done manually, with the process involving multiple agencies, resulting in procedural delays and inconvenience for the users.
Through the launch of the portal, Gupta said, clear departmental accountability has now been established, with the responsibility for issuing FSC resting with the designated authority.
Further, the CM emphasised that to ensure maximum transparency, departmental file-processing has also been made entirely digital.
“Residents can now track the real-time status of their applications, including the officer handling the file, pendency duration, and stage of scrutiny,” she said.
Highlighting the ease of digital adoption even among small vendors and rickshaw pullers, Gupta said the governance system must evolve at the same pace to remain resident friendly and modern.
The launch event was also attended by Home Minister Ashish Sood and senior officials.
Sood said the new portal exemplifies this vision by enabling hassle-free, transparent renewal of FSC’s for residential and commercial establishments once their three-year (commercial) or five-year (residential) validity expires.
Further, he highlighted that the system has been designed to be extremely user-friendly. According to officials, applicants need to provide only four basic details – the address of the premises, PAN number, Contract Account (CA) number on the electricity bill, and the previous FSC number. The department then carries out the rest of the process.
The mandatory annual self-certification report required during the validity period can also now be submitted through the new portal, officials said. Currently, the renewal of fire permits are conducted manually.
“Previously, the FSC renewal process was entirely manual and offline, posing substantial challenges for applicants as well as the Delhi Fire Service(DFS). Applicants were required to visit DFS offices repeatedly for verification and document submission, which had to be provided in hard copy,” said officials.
Manual file processing led to frequent delays, risk of misplaced documents, and inadequate transparency. Even obtaining a status update required a physical visit, making the system time-consuming and inefficient, said officials.
Applicants can now submit their renewal form digitally along with three essential documents. Automated, zone-based routing ensures that applications are instantly forwarded to the relevant officers, Scrutiny Assistant, Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Divisional Officer, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, and Chief Fire Officer/Director, said officials.
Following which, ADO receives the applicant’s address and uploads the inspection report directly to the portal. Once approvals are completed, the FSC is automatically generated and issued online. Applicants receive SMS and email notifications at every stage and can download the final FSC from the portal with ease, said officials.
