During questioning Lucky told police that he wanted the money to pay the rent for his paying guest accommodation in North Delhi. He had been staying at the PG accommodation for the past three months as he was studying medicine at a private college in the area,police said.

According to police,nearly a month ago,Lucky returned home to his parents claiming that he had got a job with a multi-national company.

He told Venus and his father,a supervisor with BSES,that his office was closer to their home and shifting was the best, a senior police officer said.

Police said Lucky pretended to go to work every day. He would leave in the morning and return at night. His parents assumed he was earning well. Last week,Luckys father went out of station for official work. On Saturday night,Lucky asked his mother for Rs 10,000 saying he needed the money urgently. But his mother refused saying that he had a good job and he could arrange the money himself, the officer said.

Reportedly,Lucky had not paid the rent for his PG accommodation for three months and the landlord had been demanding it.

Police said when Venus refused money to Lucky he got angry and strangled her. Lucky then dragged his mothers body to a room on the terrace and locked it from outside.

The next day,Lucky,went to police to file a missing complaint and his father,who had returned to Delhi,also accompanied him.

Lucky came under police scanner when they found that he had lied about his job.

We checked with the MNC,which informed us that there was no one by that name working for them. A team of police was then sent to his house. The team sensed a stench coming from the room on the terrace and broke the door open. The body decomposed because of the heat, the officer said.

Police said Luckys wife is a nursing student and lives in Jhansi.
