MCD workers strike continues, civic body may form panel for resolution

With the ongoing strike of the multi tasking staff of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) entering its 16th day on Tuesday, the civic body, officials said, plans to form a dedicated committee to find resolutions, within the next 24 hours.

Leader of the House, Pravesh Wahi, said, “The committee will include representatives from the ruling party, the Opposition, and the employees who are on strike.”

Amid the strike, the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday held a protest, donning black bands, demanding the fulfilment of the demands raised by the protesters.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh directed officials to strengthen efforts to ensure cleanliness ahead of the festivals and announced that each ward will receive 50 new LED streetlights for a safe and well-lit environment for residents.

Singh also announced that a total of Rs 12.5 crore has been released by the MCD for special sanitation exercises and urgent repair works.
