Domestic help held hostage and raped is rescued, 5 held

On Friday, Sushant Lok police received a tip-off that that five men — all from West Bengal — had kidnapped a woman on April 1 and were keeping her hostage in a room belonging to one of the accused.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (DLF) Rajesh Pal said, “Three teams were formed. On reaching the spot, police found the door of the room locked. However, after repeatedly knocking on the door, police heard a woman crying inside.”

Police said the woman, also from West Bengal, worked as a domestic help in two flats in DLF City Phase-V. Sources said the woman lives alone. Police said the prime accused was known to the woman and the incident could be a result of a fight they had  had earlier.

In her complaint to police, the woman said the incident occurred on the night of April 1 while she was sleeping in her house.

According to police, the prime accused knocked on her door around 11 pm. When she opened the door, all five accused barged in. Police said the prime accused shouted at the woman, saying he would “teach you a lesson”.

Police said the accused then stripped the woman and beat her with an iron rod, causing serious injuries on her head and body.

“Later, the woman was taken to a small, rented accommodation belonging to one of the accused in Wazirabad Village. The prime accused called a doctor to treat her injuries. The woman received 18 stitches on her head,” the ACP said.

The woman alleged that the prime accused then raped her and had “unnatural sex” with her for over three days. The woman also said the accused demanded Rs 1 lakh and threatened to kill her if she did not pay up.

“The woman is traumatised by the incident and is in immense pain. She can barely walk. She has been admitted to hospital and is under observation,” a senior officer said.

Police said all five accused have been booked for rape, kidnapping, assault, threat to life and committing unnatural sex.
