Along with Union Power Minister Piyush Goel, Harsh Vardhan laid the foundation stone for a 220kV substation at Pappan Kalan, Dwarka, and inaugurated the newly constructed 220kV substation at Peeragarhi.
Officials said the Peeragarhi substation has been established by Delhi Transco Limited (DTL).
Constructed at a cost of Rs 52 crore, the Peeragarhi substation has state-of-the art technologies such as gas insulated switch gears. It has transformation capacity of 200 MVA and has been linked with the 400 kV Mundka substation.
With the commissioning of this substation, the existing 220kV substations at Najafgarh, Pappan Kalan and Rohini will be relieved of the excess load.
The 220 kV substation at Pappan Kalan is being executed by POWERGRID for DTL. It will cater to the power demand, especially in West and Northwest Delhi encompassing the Dwarka suburb area.

Harsh Vardhan also illustrated the “special efforts” of the “Union Cabinet” to solve the long-term problems of the capital.
“In every cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister raises concerns about Delhi. He asks us about the outcomes of projects. No government has gone into such detailed planning for the city,” he said.
Citing various instances of initiatives undertaken by the Centre, Harsh Vardhan said, “Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu has taken up water problems faced by people in Dwarka and has set aside Rs 50 crore for this purpose.
More than 18 community centres have been approved and foundation stones for four secondary schools have been laid in the area. Construction of 200 new toilets in the area has also begun.”
