Fourteen more people tested positive for H1N1 influenza in the Capital on Saturday,taking the tally to 215 confirmed cases so far. This includes two patients from Sanskriti School.
The students who tested positive for H1N1 flu are from Class IV and Class XI of Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri,said school authorities. Besides,16 suspected patients have been admitted in city hospitals with symptoms similar to the H1N1 influenza. The school has sent SMSes to parents informing them about the two cases and asking them to await further instructions regarding closure of the school.
Meanwhile,despite the Centres decision to involve private healthcare players in testing and containing the pandemic,Delhi government has not yet given permission to private hospitals and laboratories.
We are equipped to handle the patient load as of now. When we get cases which require hospital admission beyond our bed strength,we will approach private hospitals. As of now,most patients are being advised home quarantine, said J P Singh,Delhi Health Secretary.
The school was closed till Monday after a Class VI girl was suspected to have contracted the virus on Thursday. However,she tested negative for the flu on Friday.
The Capital has 216 confirmed cases of H1N1 out of the national tally of 712 patients so far.
