After becoming DMK president, Stalin sets sight on winning 2024 LS polls in TN

In his address following his election, Stalin asked office-bearers to take a vow to work towards securing a landslide victory for the party in the 2024 Lok Sabha (LS) polls and emerge in national politics as an unassailable force.

The party should win all the 39 Parliamentary constituencies in the state and the lone seat in neighbouring Puducherry as well, he said. This is the second time Stalin is being elected unopposed as party chief.

Exuding confidence that the DMK would win all the 40 Parliamentary segments, he tasked party functionaries to begin work right away to set up booth committees to face the polls and complete the work in two months.

Targeting both the BJP and the AIADMK, Stalin said the saffron party is attempting to do politics in Tamil Nadu against the DMK through defamatory propaganda as it has no achievements to list. "The BJP is trying to do politics by stoking religious and spiritual sentiments," he claimed. (PTI)

Toy industry can generate 30,000 jobs in TN with govt support

The toy industry in Tamil Nadu can easily generate nearly 30,000 jobs if it receives the required support from the state government, which would provide a thrust to the sector.

With minimal number of toy manufacturers in the state, Chennai and Tuticorin can be ideal destinations for the industry with port connectivity, the Tamil Nadu Toy Dealers Association President Santosh Kumar said.

Elaborating, he said when national level toy exhibition was held in New Delhi, the Telangana government allotted 1,000 acres of land for the industry. "It is a very big and positive step, lots of industry people have already gone ahead and booked their places (in Hyderabad). Something similar (kind of support) is required here in Tamil Nadu." According to him, Chennai is the capital for the toy market in southern region and with huge investors in this space. (PTI)

It has become the habit and theory of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin to say that DMK is not againt spiritualism whenever there is trouble for the government, said Union Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry L Murugan on Friday. People have started hating the DMK due to the controversial remarks being made by its members and Ministers, Murugan, who is on a two-day visit to Nilgiris district, told reporters here.

More than his monumental achievements and the Brihadishwara temple in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur that he constructed which still draws lakhs of devotees annually, the mighty Chola emperor Raja Raja’s religious identity suddenly appears to be in question. Raja Raja I had built the Brihadishwara or the Big Temple between 1003 and 1010 AD and he was the inspiring force behind the expansion of his kingdom by land and sea.
