City jockey Jaiveer Makkar claimed two gold medals and one bronze medal in the Punjab Armed Police Equestrian Championship held on the PAP Campus in Chandigarh on Sunday. Makkar won a gold medal each in the show jumping and polo bending events while he claimed the bronze medal in the ball and bucket race held in the competition.
A student of Class II of Strawberry Fields School, Sector 26, seven-year-old Makkar won the gold medals riding his horse Merrie Monarch while the bronze medal was won riding on horse Goldilocks. Makkar is the youngest jockey in the tricity to win medals in horse shows in Chandigarh and Delhi. Makkar trains at Chandigarh Horse Ariding Academy under coach Om Prakash and has won medals in Delhi Horse Show in the past.
