The Kharar police has registered a rape case against a BTech student accused of sexually assaulting his friend, a 21-year-old BCA third-year student, at a private university in Mohali district.
According to the victim’s statement, the accused, identified as Airan, had befriended her two years ago and recently called her to his rented flat on November 6 under the pretext of explaining an investment app. When she arrived around 4 pm, he locked the door, played an English movie, and later attempted to kiss her forcibly. As she resisted, the accused overpowered her, tore off her clothes, and raped her.
The woman said the accused also recorded the act on his mobile phone, forcing her to say she had come willingly. Her cries for help went unheard due to the loud movie volume. The next day, she confided in a friend, who advised her to tell her family. Accompanied by her uncle, she reported the incident to the Kharar police.
A case was registered under BNS sections 64 and 351(2). The victim’s medical examination was conducted at the Government Hospital, Kharar. The accused is currently absconding, and the police have launched raids to arrest him.
