A maximum of two months has been declared as the deadline for declaration of semester results at Panjab University. Vice-Chancellor Prof R C Sobti announced the decision at a meeting of chairpersons on the campus on Tuesday.
He also asked the chairpersons to declare the results for the semester exams held in December last year. Till date, the university had never set a deadline for declaring the results.
In order to bring transparency in all appointments, teaching as well as non-teaching,all chairpersons have been asked to devise a performa for allocating marks or indicate the criteria for selection in consultation with their faculty members, which should be put up on the university website. This will help in ending all kinds of arbitrariness in the selection process, said the V-C.
Sobti also asked all chairpersons to discuss with their respective faculty members the introduction of an open credit system in the university. The chairpersons have been given two days to prepare the credit system of choice depending upon different subjects.
The chairpersons were also asked to implement the UGC guidelines on PhD in toto. Prof Sobti made it clear to them that the guidelines need to be implemented as they have been approved and accepted by the Centre.
