Sex racket: Russian,two others arrested

In a raid conducted late on Wednesday night,police team arrested two women and a man from a house in Sector 25 in Panchkula on charges of immoral trafficking.

In a raid conducted late on Wednesday night,police team arrested two women and a man from a house in Sector 25 in Panchkula on charges of immoral trafficking.

Police received information about the activity from secret sources around 7 pm on Wednesday. A case has been registered against the three accused at the Chandimandir Police Station under Sections 3,4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act,1956.

The district court has remanded Manoj Kumar (mid-forties),a resident of Sector 38,Chandigarh and Akalmaltabakova Gildiss (25),a Russian national,to judicial custody at Ambala Central Jail. They were,allegedly,found in a compromising position when the police raided the Panchkula house.

The third accused,Amarjeet Kaur,has been remanded to one-day police custody. A resident of Dullyana village in Ambala district,she is the kingpin of the flesh trade.

Karamveer Singh,the investigating officer of the case,Criminal Investigation Authority (CIA),said,“Amarjeet,also known as Dr Gill,supplies women,mostly from countries outside India,to her customers here. She is being interrogated for more information”.

He also informed that the girls were paid Rs 5,000 per day for their services and Dr Gill would supply girls according to her client’s requirements. The raided house in Panchkula was rented by her for carrying out her illegitimate operations.

Amarjeet Kaur alias Dr Gill has been running her business for the past four months from Panchkula,before which she operated from Mohali.

A case was registered against her in Mohali about seven months back,which is still being investigated. According to Karamveer,she shifted her work to Panchkula after facing charges in Mohali.

If convicted under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act,1956,the punishment ranges from seven years’ to life imprisonment.
