Three days after former SAD leader Balwant Singh Ramoowalia sprang a surprise and joined the Uttar Pradesh government as a Cabinet minister, his daughter Amanjot Kaur Ramoowalia resigned from the post of chairperson of District Planning Committee on Tuesday.
Kaur told Chandigarh Newsline that she personally met Punjab Education Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema and handed him the resignation letter. She claimed she worked sincerely for the development of the district during her tenure but the circumstances did not allow her to continue her work. Therefore, she tendered her resignation.
Sources in SAD said that Kaur might soon be suspended from primary membership of the party.

Kaur, sources said, was asked to resign by the senior party leadership. Many officials who were posted in the district on the recommendations of Ramoowalia would soon be transferred, sources added. “The loyalists who were appointed at the insistence of Ramoowalia have been told to step down. There are at least five persons who are holding plum posts. Soon all these persons will also tender their resignations,” said a party insider.
