Meet Sandeep Minnie Riat, the dedicated Managing Director of Akal Springs Limited, who has transformed the business of suspension components into a thriving endeavour. In this exclusive profile, she shares her journey, accomplishments, and thoughts on the industry’s future.

ABOUT ME

I’m a woman deeply entrenched in the manufacturing of suspension components for various vehicular applications. To me, it’s more than just a business; it’s a family of individuals who pool their talents and creativity to embrace new opportunities and challenges. Born and raised in Ludhiana, I graduated from Amity Business School. I admit I’m a disciplined workaholic, incredibly passionate about creating and embracing challenges. I trust my instincts; when something feels wrong, I can’t ignore it. I stress over both the small and big things but find reassurance that things will work out.

STARTING THE COMPANY

I didn’t initiate the company; the company initiated me, quite literally. I inherited it from my father after his passing. My decision to become the MD was driven by the desire to carry forward his vision and, perhaps a bit
sheepishly, prove that his decisions during the company’s darkest times were not misguided. I was just 22 at the time, so I can attribute some of my actions to my age.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS SO FAR

I’ve assembled a team that resurrected a struggling unit into a profitable one. When the world had given up on the company, our entire team devised a strategy that worked like a miracle. It was an honor when business tycoon
Anand Mahindra commended our work, stating, “You are a true RISE story. Yours is an inspiring tale of triumphing against all odds, and your current success is a testament to your leadership, entrepreneurship, and hard
work.”

EMBRACING CHALLENGES

I welcome challenges with open arms. I’ll undoubtedly stress over them and have sleepless nights, but I won’t back down.

FUTURE PLANS

Plans are in motion, but when they materialize, I’ll share more details.

EXPECTATIONS FROM THE GOVERNMENT

Let’s start with the basics: roads, safety, and essential infrastructure. The grand promises can come later. After more than seven decades of independence, we still struggle to build roads that can last a year, let alone a government’s five-year term.

STRESS BUSTERS

Can stress really be busted? Well, I’m still learning that art.
