Punjab schools to remain shut from Dec 24 to 31

Action will be taken against schools violating this directive

The Punjab government has announced a week-long winter break in schools from December 24 to 31, as per a notification issued by the education department.

The directive applies to all government, private-aided, and recognised schools in the state. According to the order, which was approved by the education minister, Harjot Singh Bains, strict action will be taken against schools that violate the guidelines.

Punjab is home to over 18,000 government schools and more than 5,000 private institutions, catering to nearly 35 lakh students.
