After conducting an inquiry into a goof-up in the BA and BSc second year mathematics examination, the office of Controller of Examination (CoE),Panjab University (PU), on Tuesday sent a fact finding action taken report against the paper setter to Vice-Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover for his consideration.
Scores of students of BA and BSc,studying at city-based colleges and in 188 PU-affiliated colleges, were taken aback on April 17 when they found that the mathematics differential equations paper was similar to the last years question paper. Not a single question had been changed.
After the university received complaints pertaining to the goof up in the question paper, the CoE office collated the details and found that the question paper was exactly the same as the 2012 paper.
We called for details from the examination branch. The handwritten question paper of 2013 turned out to be same as the 2012 one. The university will not tolerate such kind of carelessness on the part of the paper setters, CoE Dr Parvinder Singh told Chandigarh Newsline.
Whenever we get the instructions from the V-C office,we will initiate action against the paper setter, Singh said.
The question paper was good for those who had just solved the last five year papers. It was unfair to those who had worked hard. The university should take the paper setter to task,as they earned money for copying the question paper, said Ankita Garg,a student.
