Following a ruckus at the Lake Club, officials of the UT Administration and police raided a party organised by a beer company on Sunday. Late in the night, the police arrested five accused.

However,no one among the few hundred people attending the party were rounded off. While police received a tip-off about a rave party taking place at the club, police officers claimed that no drugs were found from the spot.

Sources said the club was booked for a party by a beer company. After the people present there started jumping into the pool and creating a ruckus, the news reached the officials of the administration who reached the spot, led by UT finance secretary V K Singh. A police team also rushed to the spot.

A case of trespass was registered against Sanjay Singla, who is a caterer, and unknown persons on a complaint filed by general manager of the club Rajeev Tuli. A large amount of beer was recovered from the spot.

Later,Singla and four of his staff members were arrested.

The Lake Club is under the purview of the UT Administration. The finance secretary said that the party was organised by a beer company. While the garden had been booked for the party, people started entering the pool which was not authorised. It was a case of trespass,he added.

Eyewitnesses said a large number of youngsters were creating a ruckus at the club. They were jumping into the pool, and two of them had to be saved from drowning. People were also drinking and smoking.

While the officials claimed that the party was to be organised in the garden and not the pool, the name of the party was ‘Island Pool’ party, and this had been publicised through Facebook.

“The guests attending the party were not authorised to use the pool, but still they did. Crona beer officials organised the party. But during checking, they could not even produce the valid permit for serving liquor as well. We have written to the excise department. Five people, including the caterer, have been arrested,” said Sector 3 SHO Inspector Neeraj Sarna.
