Tightening noose around modified vehicles and cars with tinted windows, the Panchkula police has impounded a modified Mahindra Thar and issued a hefty challan of Rs 42,500 at the Chandimandir Toll Plaza.

According to the police, the vehicle owner was found violating multiple traffic rules. The driver failed to produce several mandatory documents, including a driving licence, insurance papers, and registration certificate. The Thar was also found violating pollution control norms and was fitted with an unauthorised patterned number plate.

The vehicle had been illegally modified and its windows were covered with black film, which the police removed on the spot.

DCP (Traffic) Manpreet Singh Sudan said the drive against such violations will continue. “We want to ensure that no vehicle in the district is illegally modified, fitted with tinted windows, or equipped with modified silencers on bikes. Our aim is to keep Panchkula’s roads safe and to ensure strict compliance with traffic rules.”
