The police in Panchkula plan to formulate a joint operation strategy for strict action against criminals with Himachal Pradesh Police to control crime in the border areas of Panchkula district and the adjoining regions of Himachal Pradesh.

DCP Crime (Panchkula) Mukesh Malhotra said that both states have shared the list of proclaimed offenders (POs) and criminals who absconded after being granted bail. Special collaborative efforts will be made to apprehend them. Furthermore, the properties of criminals involved in drug trafficking, who reside on the Himachal border but operate in Haryana, will soon be demolished.

In a meeting held in this regard on Thursday, an agenda was discussed to identify active drug peddlers and traffickers in both states, with a decision to conduct joint operations for strict action. It was noted that around 1,700 to 1,800 people from some slums in Parwanoo have been relocated to Pinjore and Kalka areas. To monitor these relocated groups and prevent illegal activities, especially NDPS trafficking, special combing operations will be conducted.

Meanwhile, to curb the activities of the mining mafia, both regions’ police will conduct raids in border areas. Earlier, accused individuals would escape to the neighboring state’s jurisdiction during police actions. However, the joint operation aims to eliminate this issue, said a police official.

The meeting also addressed cases of extortion, as several businessmen residing in Panchkula work in Himachal. The crime gangs active in Baddi and Parwanoo have been identified, and joint action will be carried out by Himachal Police and Panchkula Crime Branch.

The police also discussed illegal liquor smuggling and identified some secret routes for joint raids in the meeting. Buses arriving from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will be specifically monitored for suspected drug and weapon smuggling.

The issue of temple thefts was also discussed, as some incidents in Panchkula have been linked to similar cases in Himachal. Police will monitor the activities of identified criminals involved in such thefts. Both police forces have also shared information regarding vehicle thefts and burglary cases.
