Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh Wednesday inaugurated a newly installed high-definition ultrasound unit at the government-run ESI Hospital, Phase 7, Mohali.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA said the installation of this advanced machine, along with the posting of a radiologist, will greatly strengthen healthcare facilities for employees working in the industrial belt. He emphasised that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is determined to provide quality healthcare. “The Aam Aadmi Clinics are already a proven model to deliver basic healthcare with free medicines and diagnostic tests right to people’s doorsteps,” he noted.
Praising the hospital staff and the Mohali Industry Association for their dedicated management, Singh said his plans to establish another major health facility either an ESI Hospital or a Civil Hospital-type institute in Sector 66. “This will reduce the heavy load on the District Hospital, which is currently attached to the Medical College until it shifts to its own campus behind ISB,” he explained. The MLA assured that the existing ESI Hospital in Phase 7 would continue to be upgraded to meet the needs of industrial employees more effectively.
Expressing gratitude, Dr Harpreet Kaur, SMO Incharge of ESI Hospital, said the commissioning of the ultrasound unit had fulfilled a long-pending requirement. She added that the hospital already has specialists in multiple disciplines, a dedicated ambulance for patient care, and will soon have a blood storage unit as well.
Prominent industrialists present on the occasion included Jasbir Singh (chairman, MIA ESI Committee), Baljit Singh (president, Mohali Industry Association), Harinderpal Singh (former president, Mohali MC), Rajesh Wig, K S Mahal, Paramjit Singh Saini, Ashok Gupta, and A S Anand.
