On January 26,Vijay was picked up by Varinder from Ramgarh and the other three accused, along with their children, were waiting in a nearby area. All the accused, along with their seven children, and Vijay took a bus to Dera Bassi Tikkri,Punjab, and stayed there for two days. Meanwhile,Rishi Pal lodged a complaint with the Ramgarh police post.

From Dera Bassi,Hanish Ansari made the first phone call to Rishi Pal’s neighbour, saying that he needed to talk to him but did not say anything about Vijay. Three calls were made to the neighbour by Ansari, who finally told him to talk to Rishi Pal and also gave his number. Meanwhile, all the accused shifted to Charniya Pinjore, where they stayed at a slum. Late on February 2 the kidnappers made their first ransom call for Rs 5 lakh. Next day Rishi Pal told the police about the call and filed a kidnapping case.

The mobile connection used to make the ransom call is registered in the name of a Ramgarh resident. Subsequent police raids found the address to be fake and the phone from which ransom call was made was also found to be switched off. The Technical Cell of the police got to know through the IMEI number of the mobile that the mobile had a double SIM facility. The accused were found to have used the other SIM to talk to their family in UP.

“On Friday evening,we tracked the kidnappers in Pinjore area. After working on the details,we finally zeroed in on a hut where the boy was kept,” said a police officer who was part of the team.
