A kabaddi player from Moga, who went live on Facebook late on Wednesday that unidentified people attacked his mother, became a suspect in the preliminary probe.

In the live streaming session, Kulwinder Singh Kinda claimed that some people barged into his house in Badhni Kalan and assaulted his mother. In disturbing visuals, the kabaddi player was purportedly seen crying out loudly and blaming some of his rivals for the attack.

Police said that the woman Rachhpal Kaur was severely injured with sharped weapons injuries on her face and chest.

The police said that matter is fishy, and are suspecting that Kulwinder himself attacked his mother and then went live on Facebook.

“We have checked the CCTVs and no one can be seen entering the house from the front gate. It seems that the man himself attacked his mother and then went live on Facebook to create a drama. The probe is ongoing,” Moga SP (investigation) Ajay Raj Singh said.

DSP (Nihal Singh Wala) Manjit Singh said that during probe it has been found that Kulwinder was an alcoholic and used to suspect his mother of having an extra-marital relationship. “Probably, he opened attack on his mother with a sharp-edged weapon under influence of liquor and then went live on Facebook to blame some of his rivals for the attack,” said the officer. “We are still probing and things will be clearer by Friday,” he added.

Inspector Partap Singh, SHO Badhni Kalan police station, said that an FIR has been registered in the matter and police will record detailed statement of the injured woman Friday. She is currently admitted at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Ludhiana, where her condition is stated to be stable.

Police said that the son was in suspicion net because instead of picking up his injured mother and taking her to hospital, he went live on Facebook and started crying while blaming his rivals for the act even as his mother continued to struggle for life.
