The Panjab University (PU) Dean Students Welfare (DSW) Prof A S Ahluwalia on Wednesday assured the affiliates of the Indian National Students Organization (INSO) that the authorities would try their best to provide hostel accommodation to the research scholars enrolled for PhD,on an individual basis.
He also assured them that an online grievance cell will be created,to address the problems of the students,on the official website of the varsity,and information about the fellowship and other guidelines will be updated on the website.
Moreover,INSO has also been assured that fellowships of the research scholars will be deposited to the account of the research scholar on the first day of the month. For this,instruction shall be issued to all the departments to ask the research scholars to submit the fellowship form between the 20th and 25th of every month.
INSO leader Somvir Singh urged the students to keep fighting for their rights and come forward against any repressive attitude of university authorities.
Prof Ahluwalia said that those research scholars who get registered do get individual rooms,but for enrolled students they will try their level best. The varsity does have grievance committees,but it is also ready to have an online grievance cell for the students.
INSO had on March 12 staged a protest outside the V-C office against the indifferent attitude of authorities towards research scholars,following which the DSW had assured a meeting with them.
