Following Monday evening’s explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, Mohali has been placed on high alert. To maintain law and order and ensure public safety, heavy police deployment has been made across the city, with CRPF and Quick Response Teams (QRT) assisting in large-scale checking operations.
Security has been tightened at border areas, where multiple police checkpoints have been set up to screen vehicles entering the district. On Wednesday morning, under this special drive, Phase-1 police station staff, led by DSP City-1 Prithvi Singh Chahal and SHO Phase-1 Sukhveer Singh, conducted a thorough checking operation at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Bus Stand, Phase 6.
DSP City 2 Harsimran Singh Bal along with his team conducted a thorough checking operation at Mohali railway station and phase 11 market.
All parked vehicles were inspected by dog squads, and every corner of the bus stand was searched. Several suspicious vehicles were detained for verification. Around 40 police personnel, along with DSPs and SHOs, were deployed during the operation.
SSP Harmandeep Hans said, “Special night checkpoints have been set up across the city. Border police stations have been instructed to increase vigilance and monitor all incoming vehicles.” He added that the police are recording vehicle registration numbers, drivers’ details, and contact numbers at every entry point, while videography of the checks is also being carried out for documentation.
To ensure maximum security, nakas (barricades) have also been established on internal roads across Mohali.
