Keeping in view the Supreme Court directions, Ludhiana district administration has issued necessary directions with respect to use of fire-crackers on Diwali, Christmas, New Year, and Guru Purab event. Deputy Commissioner-Cum-District Magistrate Surabhi Malik, in the orders mentioned the timeline for bursting crackers during above mentioned events.
The order stated that on Diwali, the timing for bursting fire-crackers will be between 8pm and 10 pm while on Christmas and New Year eve, the fire-crackers can be used at midnight (from 11.55 pm to 12.30 am). Likewise, use of bursting firecrackers will be permitted on Guru Purab for one hour in the morning i.e. 4 am to 5 am and one hour in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.
The order further prohibits use of fire-crackers in silence zones including 100-meter radius of hospitals, educational institutions, courts, and religious places. Strict action will be taken against violators as per prevailing sections of law, the orders said.
