Marking the Haryana Day on Saturday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated major initiatives aimed at boosting women’s empowerment and streamlining governance in the state. In a landmark step under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana, a total of Rs 2,100 each was transferred to 5,22,162 eligible women, amounting to Rs 109.65 crore. The scheme seeks to promote self-reliance, financial inclusion, and economic empowerment among women, particularly ones from economically weaker sections.

Addressing the media, Saini described the initiative as a reflection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the state government’s commitment to social transformation. “This is not merely a government scheme; it is a shining example of transparent policy and the honest intent of the double-engine government dedicated to inclusive development,” he said.

The Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi mobile app, launched on September 25 to mark the 109th birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, has been central to the scheme’s implementation. As of midnight on October 31, 6,97,697 women had successfully submitted applications, including 6,51,529 married and 46,168 unmarried women. “Notably, within just 24 hours between the midnight of October 30 and October 31; a total of 37,735 new applications were received, indicating the scheme’s growing popularity and public trust”, he said.

Saini elaborated on the eligibility criteria, stating that women aged 23 years or above, belonging to families with an annual income below Rs 1 lakh, are entitled to apply. A unique feature of the scheme allows all eligible women within a household to apply individually. The application process is entirely online and transparent, enabling applicants to submit forms anytime, anywhere via the Lado Lakshmi app.

Once applications are submitted, the verification process is completed within 24 to 48 hours. Eligible applicants receive an SMS prompting them to upload a live photograph for Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification. After verification, the SEWA Department issues a beneficiary ID, and financial assistance is directly transferred to their bank accounts. Saini urged women whose KYC process remained incomplete to finish it promptly, assuring immediate transfer of funds upon completion.

In addition to empowering women financially, Saini also announced a statewide paperless registry system, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to digital governance. First piloted in Ladwa tehsil of Kurukshetra district on September 29, the system has now been expanded across Haryana. Between September 29 and October 31; a total of 917 paperless registries were successfully completed.

The paperless registry system enables citizens to complete most registration procedures online, requiring a single visit to the tehsil only for photo verification. Saini emphasised that the initiative is designed to reduce delays, eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, curb corruption, and provide genuine convenience to residents. “This is a major step toward transparency, efficiency, and citizen-friendly governance,” he said.
