The Election Commission of India would felicitate the Faridkot district administration for mobilising voters to come out and exercise their franchise,resulting in 85 per cent polling.

The administration had successfully implemented the ECIs SVEEP (Systematic Voting Education and Electoral Participation) programme.

As a result of this programme,the district recorded the highest poll percentage in the state. Faridkot is the only district from Punjab selected for felicitation at a programme to be held in Delhi on April 10, Ravi Bhagat,Deputy Commissioner,Faridkot said.

The Red Cross society too had initiated many different programmes under this scheme to motivate the electorate not only to come out and vote but also make an independent choice of their candidate and not be swayed by any kind of lure.

The district administration had got songs recorded and uploaded on the YouTube to motivate the voters. A bus carrying posters and short films prepared by the ECI travelled across the district.
