The Ludhiana Zonal Unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 103 kg of ganja from a car and arrested two persons travelling in the vehicle near Inland Container Depot Gateway Rail Freight Limited (ICD GRFL) in Sahnewal on Saturday.

Releasing a press statement, DRI said, “The vehicle was intercepted after surveillance was mounted based on a tip-off that it was transporting concealed contraband in violation of the NDPS Act, 1985.”

A detailed search led to the seizure of 74 packets of ganja, each wrapped in khakhi-coloured plastic tape, hidden inside secret cavities constructed in the front and rear portions of the car’s floor. The seized consignment is valued at around Rs 31 lakh in the illicit market.

According to officers, the smugglers had engineered false flooring within the vehicle. The compartments were carefully integrated into the car’s structure to blend with the factory-built design, making detection extremely difficult. The car has also been seized by the authorities.
