Court sends British national to two years’ jail under NDPS Act

The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shalini Nagpal on Tuesday sentenced a British national to two years imprisonment under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act

The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shalini Nagpal on Tuesday sentenced a British national to two years imprisonment under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The court also slapped a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the guilty.

The British national,Napper Ned,came to India on May 22,2011 and visited Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Police said on July 16,2011 Ned was caught riding without a helmet near Sector 38. He tried to flee but was apprehended. On searching him,police seized 40 gm charas and 190 gm psychotropic substances from his possession. His statement was recorded on spot and later a case was registered against him under Section 20 and 22 of NDPS Act.
