Only supari killers arrested, not the masterminds: Moosewala’s father

“Why isn’t the CM arresting those who had hatched the conspiracy to kill my son, who had captured half of the music industry with his lyrics and singing talent?” Balkaur Singh asked.

Slain singer Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh Saturday said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s claim that his son’s killers have been arrested is a lie and that those behind the bars are just the shooters who had taken “supari (contract)” to kill him. “Why isn’t the CM arresting those who had hatched the conspiracy to kill my son, who had captured half of the music industry with his lyrics and singing talent?” Balkaur Singh asked on the second day of his two-day ‘Insaaf Yatra’ taken out in Jalandhar to seek justice for his son.

Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll is scheduled on May 10, and Balkaur Singh has been asking voters not to vote for the candidate of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party.

The second day of the yatra began from Lambra and reached Latifpura locality where several houses were demolished by the Jalandhar Improvement Trust in December last year. To those who were rendered homeless following the demolition, Balkaur Singh said, “You are also a victim like him (Sidhu). Your houses were demolished and my support (son) was snatched from me.”

“Both CM Mann and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal are in Jalandhar today (Saturday). I am also in Jalandhar. If they can give me time for two minutes, I would like to ask a few questions,” he said, adding, “If you (government) had listened to me last year, then I would not have been on the road (yatra) today.” Moosewala’s father further said, “I am a heart patient, my doctors didn’t permit me to move the whole day or speak too much. But I was left with no other option and had to come to the people to let them know what my wife and I have been going through for the past one year.” Breaking down while speaking, Balkaur Singh said, “Our son comes in her mother’s dreams and asks which revolver was used to kill him.”

“We are victims, we might turn weak but will fight till the end, just the way our Gurus have taught us,” he said while appealing to the people to vote for anybody but not for the AAP. He said the AAP government is “not ours” and will “destroy our state by taking instructions from Delhi”. “We have made a mistake by showing anger against our own in the 2022 Assembly election, let’s not commit the same fault. Let them (AAP) lose this election (Jalandhar bypoll) and that will put some sense in them and show them their mistakes,” he said.

Balkaur Singh said that the law and order situation in the state has completely collapsed. He further said, “The youth of Punjab are being caught and sent to Dibrugarh while the gangsters sitting in the jails are being provided with all the facilities, including the internet. Every day, gangsters are making videos and posting photos from the jails, which are going viral on social media and the innocent youth are being killed because of them.”

“Under their (AAP) rule in Punjab, whoever tries to stand up on their feet on the basis of their hard work, is being targeted by extortionists. What was the fault of Gurjant Singh of Tarn Taran. He ran a dhaba all his life, earned money by working hard and started a textile business but the extortionists demanded money and killed him publicly. Timmy Chawla of Nakodar worked hard to build a business but the extortionists went after him and killed him and his gunman. Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambian, who earned international fame, was publicly killed by the gangsters,” he said.

“I had sent my son to Canada by taking a loan of Rs 20 lakh, he got a degree and made a name for himself in the field of singing. He used to write and sing his own songs and then established a company, which captured 50 per cent of the (Punjabi) music industry. But his success could not be digested by some and they got him killed,” Balkaur Singh said, without naming anyone.

Moosewala’s mother Charan Kaur said that the the enemies were leaving no stone unturned to weaken them “but Waheguru (the almighty) has given us all the courage to fight against injustice and we will fight till we get justice”. “Some people were so upset with Shubhdeep’s (Moosewala) work so they played a dirty game and got him killed,” Charan Kaur said.

She added, “While we are pleading for justice, the government is saying that 32-33 people have been arrested. But why were those who were pointed out not being arrested?” Taking a dig at AAP MLAs, she said, “They don’t even know how to behave publicly and socially. They just have cars, big houses and security and nothing to do with the common people like us.”

On Friday, while starting the yatra in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency, Balkaur Singh made many serious allegations against the government. He had said that the Special Cell of the Delhi government had sent a letter to the government that two people, including Sidhu Moosewala, were in danger in Punjab but the government did not take it seriously and withdrew his security. The two-day ‘Insaaf Yatra’ ended Saturday after going around all the nine segments of Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency.
