CBSE Cluster football tourney to get underway from today

A total of 47 teams will vie for the top slot at the CBSE Cluster XIII football tournament to be held from October 3 to 7 at St Soldier International School,Sector 28,Chandigarh.

A total of 47 teams will vie for the top slot at the CBSE Cluster XIII football tournament to be held from October 3 to 7 at St Soldier International School,Sector 28,Chandigarh. The tournament will see participation of teams from Haryana,Himachal Pradesh,Jammu & Kashmir,Punjab and Chandigarh. The school is hosting the CBSE Football Cluster for the second consecutive year. The matches will be played on knock-out basis. Last year’s top four teams- Durga Public School,Solan,Shishu Niketan,Chandigarh,hosts St. Soldier International School and D.A.V Senior Secondary School,Sector 15,Chandigarh,gain automatic entry into the second round. Anuj Yadav and Akshay Shekhar of the host school have already proved their mettle by playing in international matches at London and with the German Bundesliga Club,Bayern Munich.

Double delight for Asav

Panchkula: Going from strength to strength,Asav Kumar continued to assert his supremacy on the court as he won both the final matches to claim twin titles in the DC Model Open Total tennis tournament played at the DC Model School,on Tuesday. Looking in supreme form,Asav clinched both the boy’s Under-10 and -12 titles. In the Under-10 final,he didn’t lose even a single game and thrashed Abhey Mohan 4-0,4-0,to win his first title in the morning. He returned back and this time he defeated Manvir in the Under-12 final. He looked in good touch and won 4-2,4-2,to win his second title of the day. Meanwhile,Aniket Khosla bagged the boy’s Under-14 title after he got the better of Vaibhav 6-4,6-4,in an exciting encounter. Manjot went on to clinch the boy’s Under-18 title after he outplayed Himanshu 6-1,6-3 in the final. The girl’s Under-18 title was bagged by Preet Nain as she dismantled Naemat Aulakh 4-1,5-3.

Athletics trials today

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Athletics Association is going to conduct trials on October 3 at 3.00 pm at Sports Complex,Sector 7,Chandigarh to select Chandigarh junior athletics team. The selected team will participate in the National Junior Championships which is going to be held at Lucknow from October 27 to October 31. Only bonafide residents of Chandigarh can appear for the trials.

Kho-kho trials on October 5

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Kho-Kho Association will hold the trials at 5 p.m on October 5 at Shri Guru Gobind Singh Public School,Sector 35 to select the probables for the Junior National Kho-Kho Championship to be held at the school premises from October 27 to October 31. Players are required to come in proper kit along with their school I-cards. Interested players can contact Surinder Singh Bhandari at 9814630280 at M DAV School,Sector 22-A.

Handball trials tomorrow

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Handball Association will conduct the trials at 4 p.m on October 4 at DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8,to select the Chandigarh junior girls team for the Junior Girls National Handball Championship to be held at Erode (Tamil Nadu) from October 22. Only Chandigarh bonafide players born on or after January 2,1993 are eligible for the trials and should report to Ravinder Singh Bawa at the above mentioned venue on October 4.
