In continuation of its drive against the decision of the BJP government to stop distribution of food ration under the public distribution system in the city, the Chandigarh unit of Congress held three signature campaigns Saturday.
The campaigns were held in Sector 37, Ramdarbar, and Sanjay Colony, Phase 1, Industrial Area. President of Chandigarh Congress, Pardeep Chhabra, said there was a lot of resentment against the decision. He said the anti-people face of the BJP had been revealed within one-and-half year of its rule. The lives of the poor and the common men have become difficult with the government imposing many taxes, he said.
“The decision to stop the ration will deprive the residents of the ration which they were getting earlier. They will not be able to arrange food in the amount which the government has decided to transfer in their accounts directly,” said Chhabra.
He added that the BJP government had buried the Food Security Act of the UPA government.
Similar campaigns will be held in Maloya, Dadumajra, Indira Colony and Mauli Jagran soon.
