The movement list for admissions to BCom courses in city colleges was declared by Panjab University (PU) late Tuesday evening. In the UT pool (with 85 per cent seats reserved under the UT quota),the highest score point admitted was 107 at GGDSD College Sector 32.
The second highest score point was admitted at DAV College,Sector 10 with 98.8 in the UT Pool,while the third place was bagged by MCM DAV College with a cut-off score point of 98.6.
In the General pool (with 15 per cent quota for outstation students),GGDSD College again recorded the highest cut-off point of 110.6. In second place was MCM DAV College with a cut-off score point of 109.8.
Out of the available 280 seats,232 were filled on the first day of admissions in GGDSD College. One hundred and seventy-five seats were filled out of 210 in MCM DAV College and 132 seats were filled in the Post-Graduate Government College for Girls,Sector 11.
The final physical counselling will be conducted at the Panjab University campus on July 26. A total of 550 seats were left vacant after the first counselling.
The Coordinator of BCom admissions,SK,said,The merit list was displayed late in the night on Tuesday. Students should deposit their fees in the allotted colleges at the earliest. It will be their last chance to get admission in the colleges. After this counselling,there will be no counselling for BCom admissions.
The number of applications registered for admissions is 12,000 whereas the number of seats is 4,000 in all. The government colleges are performing better this year,in terms of finding takers for the allotted seats. While over 30 per cent seats were left vacant after first counselling in private colleges,the government colleges have managed to fill over 90 per cent of their seats.
