In a sad turn of events, P. Khurrana, a well-known astrologer and father of Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Aparshakti Khurrana, breathed his last at a hospital in Mohali on Friday, just a day before Ayushmann was to receive a prestigious award from Vice President Jagdeep Dhankarat his alma mater, Panjab University.
Both the brothers were at his bedside when Khurrana breathed his last. Relatives said Ayushman had traveled to Chandigarh with great anticipation to accept the Kalagrihi award in the presence of his family.

Close relatives said the family was hopeful that Khurrana, who celebrated his 72nd birthday just a day earlier, would recover. He was admitted to the hospital on May 13, a few days after contracting COVID-19.
Author of 34 books on astrology and a popular columnist, P Khurrana was regarded highly in the community. His clients included leading
bureaucrats, cops and politicians.
The family’s residence in Sector 6 witnessed a somber gathering of relatives and well-wishers who came to bid a final farewell to the astrologer.
Neighbour VK Sood, while expressing his condolences, shared, “It was an incredibly tragic moment for the family. Ayushman had arrived in Chandigarh to receive this well-deserved honour, but fate had other plans.” He continued, “A few days ago, Khurrana ji developed an infection in his lungs, which eventually led to his admission in the ICU.”
Fortis Hospital Mohali released a statement expressing their condolences: “PK Khurrana was admitted to Fortis Hospital Mohali on May 13th due to respiratory failure. Despite our best efforts, his condition deteriorated, resulting in his untimely demise on the morning of May 19th. The entire staff of Fortis Hospital Mohali deeply mourns his loss.”

The cremation ceremony took place at Manimajra cremation ground, marking the end of an era for the Khurrana family.
Ayushmann had earlier bought a house in Panchkula.
