CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police booked a local resident on Tuesday for thrashing a home guard volunteer who had intervened to pacify him and another person involved in an altercation. Tejinder Singh,resident of Sector 56 has been arrested on charges of criminal intimidation and thrashing a home guard volunteer.
Police officials punished for patrolling in pvt vehicle
CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police on Wednesday sent a head constable and a home guard volunteer to the police lines with immediate effect for using a private vehicle to conduct patrolling. On the night of July 24,head constable Bhoop Singh and home guard volunteer Santosh Kumar posted at Burail went on night patrolling in the area in a private Scorpio.
Woman killed by truck
CHANDIGARH: A truck driven in a rash and negligent manner killed a local woman,Darshana at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday night. Darshana was rushed to GMCH-32 where she succumbed to her injuries at 9.30 pm. A case on charges of rash and negligent driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder have been registered against the driver,Balbir Singh.
