Nearly three dozen supporters of social activist Anna Hazare courted arrests in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday in response to the Jail Bharo call given by the social activist in New Delhi. They were,however,released later.
Shimla,the capital town,witnessed more protests and a candle light procession in the evening. Hazares supporters also protested against Union Minister Virbhadra Singhs purported remarks terming the social activists movement as madari ka khel.
Meanwhile,67-year-old Laxmi Chand Thakur,continued with his fast near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Ridge. A former engineer of state Public Works Department,Desh Raj Sharma,is also sitting on fast in the Mandi town. Thakur has been fasting for eight days,while Sharmas hunger strike entered ninth day.
Sharma,who was admitted to a hospital on August 22 and forcibly administered glucose managed to escape from the hospital and joined the rally in the town.
