A day after a 32-year-old patient of the Civil Hospital in Punjab’s Mansa died after allegedly being abandoned on the roadside, the two-member committee appointed to investigate the incident visited the hospital.
Dr Mukesh Kumar Aahuja, civil surgeon Mohali and district health officer Mohali had come to Mansa after health minister Dr Balbir Singh marked inquiry into the case on Friday.
They recorded statements of ambulance driver Kaka Singh who had allegedly left two patients on roadside at different locations. They also recorded the statment of caregiver ambulance driver Nirbhai Singh alias Babbi.
Kuldeep Singh Moosa, who has filed a complaint in the office of SSP Mansa, CMO said, “I had seen Rinku lying abandoned near a cemetery at 4 pm on November 22 and hence along with few other residents I had brought him back to the hospital. The other patients identified as Karan was found near Green valley colony located nearby. So I told the team of doctors about this.
“Two local journalists were also called for giving their statements as they too had helped in bringing the patients back to the hospital. The team will be coming back to the hospital again on Tuesday for further investigation.
