Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anmol Gagan Maan on Saturday resigned from her post as Kharar MLA. A former Cabinet minister, Maan sent her resignation to Speaker Kultar Sandhwan and appealed that he accept it soon.
“With a heavy heart, I have decided to quit politics. My resignation from the post of MLA to the Speaker Sahib should be accepted. My best wishes are with the party. I hope that the Punjab government lives up to the expectations of the people,” she said in a post on Facebook after sending her resignation.
Maan was earlier removed from the Cabinet by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Her resignation comes at a time when Shiromani Akali Dal candidate from Kharar, Ranjit Singh Gill, had also announced that he was leaving the party a day earlier. There is speculation that Gill would join either the BJP or AAP.
