"As immediate relief, Rs 10,000 assistance should be provided to the families affected by rain, Rs 5 lakhs to completely damaged houses and if the house is partially damaged, relief must be distributed as per the damage, Chief Minister Yediyurappa directed officials.
In the wake of hostels, schools and colleges located in district headquarters converted into Covid Care Centres, the CM instructed officials to use schools, colleges, and other public places in villages as relief centres to those affected by the rains.
"A survey regarding crop loss should also be conducted. A daily report should also be updated to assess total loss faced by the citizens," Yediyurappa added.
Kodagu (Coorg) continued to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday, with gusty winds uprooting trees and electric poles, cutting off power and telephone connectivity across the district.

Former Karnataka CM and leader of opposition Siddaramaiah remains clinically stable since admission to the hospital on August 3, doctors confirmed on Thursday.
'The leader of opposition and former Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr Siddaramiah continues to remain stable clinically since admission to Manipal Hospitals on Aug 3, 2020. He is comfortable and cheerful. He is being closely monitored by our team of doctors,' a statement from Manipal Hospital read.
Siddaramaiah tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to hospital on Monday night as asymptomatic for the infection.

A massive landslide in Talacauvery, the birthplace of River Cauvery in Kodagu district was reported on Wednesday night. According to District Commissioner Anies Kanmani Joy, four people are missing including the temple priest of Talacauvery Temple after the landslide.
Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Anies Kanmani Joy said, “A landslide has been reported in the Bramhagiri hills near Talacauvery where two houses belonging to the temple priests have been damaged. Residents of one house have already shifted to a new house a few days back, but residents of another house who are four people are missing.”
In the wake of heavy rains in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa Thursday announced the release of Rs 50 crores for emergency relief work in rain-affected areas in the state.
"I have already ordered release of Rs. 50 Crores for emergency relief works in rain-hit districts and asked Ministers to take decisions about works that need to be immediately carried out in the affected areas. Assured them of additional funds for relief work, if required," Yediyurappa said in a statement.
Further, the CM directed district in-charge ministers to tour the affected areas. "They (ministers) have been asked to remain in their districts, ensure distribution of relief and initiate all necessary measures to help the affected people, a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office read.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Ashwathnarayan CN Thursday launched eight products aimed at mitigating COVID-19 spread, in an event held in Bengaluru.
Developed by various startups, these include immunity-booster chapati, tea, daily drops, a chewable tablet, a centralised health monitoring system, a fruit/veg sanitiser, a water sanitiser system and an anti-microbial air sanitising system.
According to government officials, these products were developed by various startups at the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC), an initiative of the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS).
"This shows that Karnataka has emerged as a leading state in developing solutions to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a result of the robust Innovation ecosystem present here," Ashwathnarayan said.
The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) is likely to declare the SSLC or class 10 results this week. Though there are reports that result will be announced tomorrow, but the board has not confirmed date and time yet. According to V Sumangala, director, KSEEB, “The result date has not been decided. The board is trying to announce the SSLC result soon.”

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Thursday donated two ambulances to Bowring & Lady Curzon Medical College & Research Institute (BLCMC&RI)as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
"These specialized ambulances can be used for transporting patients who require medical monitoring while in transit and non-invasive airway management, R Madhavan, CMD, HAL said.
The ambulances are equipped with facilities like air conditioning, basic life support system, analog oxygen delivery system, and auto-loader stretcher trolley with floor mounting mechanism.
In the wake of heavy rains and floods reported from several areas of the state, the leader of opposition in Karnataka assembly Siddaramaiah urged the state government to take immediate action to begin rescue and relief work for those affected by the same.
In a series of tweets, the former Chief Minister said, 'Govt should immediately take decisions to ease the burden on people during these floods. They should identify shelter homes and relocate people from risky areas.'
Further, he urged CM Yediyurappa to distribute the work to ministers and officers immediately.
'The government had failed to provide relief for the people who had suffered from floods from last August to October. In spite of our repeated protests, govt had turned a deaf ear. But, innocent people are paying the price,' he added.
In a bid to enhance coordination between patients, their families, hospitals, and the State government, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has ordered private hospitals to establish citizen service desks.
According to an order issued by BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad, the same will be applicable to all private hospitals that have earmarked over 100 beds for Covid-19 treatment.
The desk will also be in charge of updating the government on bed availability on a real-time basis to complement the operations of the centralised bed allocation system.
Karnataka Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar Thursday informed that 306 Covid-19 patients in Bengaluru’s Covid Care Centres are due for discharge by the end of the day.
“There are 4,276 beds across 11 covid care centres in Bengaluru. As on today morning, 936 of them i.e., 27.79% are vacant,” he tweeted.
He added, “Out of the 3,346 patients, 306 patients are due for discharge today.”

Owing to the demand by migrant workers to travel back home as the Covid-19 crisis continues, the South Western Railway (SWR) Wednesday operated yet another Shramik Special train — the 266th such service from Karnataka since May 3.
According to SWR officials, the train bound for Guwahati left KSR Bengaluru station at 6.40 pm with 998 passengers. The previous Shramik Special was operated 10 days before this, on July 25, to the same destination with 1540 passengers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert in several districts of Karnataka due to heavy rainfall in the state since the beginning of this week.
"Red alert has been announced in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chikmagalur, Shivamogga, Kodagu and Hassan, due to heavy rainfall in the region from last two-three days," CS Patil, Director, IMD Bengaluru said.
As the steep growth rate of fresh cases and fatalities linked to Covid-19 continues in Karnataka, as many as 5619 cases and 100 deaths were reported on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, 1848 more people have been infected in Bengaluru in the last 24 hours while 29 more deaths in the city that took place in the last few days have been linked to the pandemic. The capital city now has 32,757 active cases.
