An elderly couple allegedly died by suicide in their residence in the Byappanahalli area of Bengaluru after their daughter-in-law reportedly left the house recently. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Chandrashekar, 54, and his wife Sharada, 45.

The incident came to light on Monday at around 6.30 pm when their younger son returned home after visiting a store near the house, they added.

The police said Prashanth, the elder son of Chandrashekar and Sharada, was married to Deeksha three months ago and they were living together in the family home. The police added Deeksha allegedly did not get along with her in-laws and there were domestic disputes often. The elders in the family tried to hold a compromise meeting which she rejected and left the house, according to a police officer.

Though the police have not retrieved any death note, the couple’s family said in their complaint that the domestic dispute between Chandrashekar and Sharada and Deeksha could be the reason behind their deaths.

The Byappanahalli police have taken up the case and a probe is underway.
