A 43-year-old truck driver was killed after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into a stationary truck on National Highway 48 near Tarsali area in Vadodara city on Tuesday morning, said the police.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Farooq Kallan Sheik, a resident of Bhiwandi in Maharashtra, died on the spot, said the police.
The Vadodara Fire and Emergency Services (VFES) team retrieved the victim’s body — which was stuck inside the driver’s cabin — after struggling for an-hour-and-a half, said sources.
According to the city police, the victim misjudged a stationary truck on NH-48 near Vadodara and rammed into the goods truck head-on at full speed on Tuesday morning, causing the truck he was driving to overturn. The impact caused the cabin of the truck to be crushed and resulted in Sheikh’s death, according to police. Sheikh’s body was rushed to SSG hospital for post-mortem examination while the Kapurai police station registered a case of accidental death in connection with the matter.
