Zimbabwe Vice President, General (Retd.) Dr CGDN Chiwenga, will lead a high-level delegation to Surat for two days, starting Friday, said sources. The delegation, comprising Zimbabwe cabinet ministers and other top officials, will engage in business meetings with industry players, before signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), said sources.
Dr Chiwenga will be accompanied by Zimbabwe Minister of Industry and Commerce Raj Modi; Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa and Zimbabwe Ambassador Stella Nkomo apart from other delegates.
On Friday, the delegation will visit Hare Krishna Diamonds factory at Bhatpore in Surat, Aishwarya Dying and Printing Mills and SUMUL Dairy, said sources.
On Saturday, the delegation is set to visit the APMC market, Shree Ram Krishna Exports diamond firm at Katargam, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), said sources in SGCCI.
The Chamber of Commerce will organise a ‘Chalo Zimbabwe’ programme on Saturday evening, according to sources.
The visit will increase opportunities for cooperation in multiple areas such as mining, agro-based industries, infrastructure development and e-governance, which can give Surat’s trade and industry a competitive advantage at the international level, said SGCCI Vice President Ashok Jirawala.
SGCCI President Nikhil Madrasi said, “The delegation will hold high-level meetings with industrialists and leaders from different sectors in Surat during the two days. They will hold meetings with the office bearers of multiple sectors such as agriculture, milk production, diamond, textile, mining, education and energy apart from others.”
He further added, “This visit will open new opportunities of trade in South Gujarat, including Surat. The expertise of Gujarati industries in sectors like textiles, diamonds, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and renewable energy can prove to be mutually beneficial for both countries when combined with Zimbabwe’s natural resources and new emerging markets.”
