Posing as policemen,miscreants dupe woman of jewellery

A Middle-Aged woman was duped of her jewellery worth Rs 30,000 by three persons posing as police officials,outside the Heritage Home Lake in Sola on Sunday morning.

A Middle-Aged woman was duped of her jewellery worth Rs 30,000 by three persons posing as police officials,outside the Heritage Home Lake in Sola on Sunday morning. The woman,Shanta Prajapati,is a resident of Shivdhara Apartments in Thaltej.

Police said that when Prajapati was passing through the area on her two-wheeler,three men stopped her and introduced themselves as police officials. They told her a checking was going on in the area as many chain snatchers and thieves posing as policemen were camping there.

They asked her to remove her gold jewellery and keep it safely. After she removed her gold bangles and necklace,the trio took the ornaments on the pretext of keeping them in a paper bag. They left the place after handing over an empty bag to her,which she discovered on reaching home,the police said. A case of theft has bee lodged and further investigation is on.
