City-based NGO Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM) on Friday staged a dharna near Sabarmati Ashram to press for a CBI inquiry into the mysterious death of two students of the gurukul run by the Asaram Bapu’s ashram.

City-based NGO Jan Sangharsh Manch (JSM) on Friday staged a dharna near Sabarmati Ashram to press for a CBI inquiry into the mysterious death of two students of the gurukul run by the Asaram Bapu’s ashram.

Speaking to mediapersons,JSM representative Mukul Sinha said the parents of the boys have lost faith in the investigations being carried out by the state police and hence there was a need to order a CBI inquiry into it.

“Over six months have passed since the incident, but the government and the police have miserably failed to even identify the offenders and take any action against them,” he said.

Sinha said even the enquiry commission headed by the Gujarat High Court retired judge D K Trivedi has not made any breakthrough yet.

“It appears that a deliberate attempt is being made to suppress the truth,” he alleged.

After the city was rocked by large-scale protests,he said,Chief Minister Narendra Modi had promised that the offenders would be arrested within 10 days. But nothing has happened after that,he added.

The deceased studied in Class V and VI respectively. The boys were reported to have gone missing after taking dinner on July 3 before their disfigured bodies were found lying on the bed of the river Sabarmati two days later.
