In the ongoing crackdown against the drug trade, the Vadodara City police has confiscated narcotics worth Rs 1.25 crore in the last six months, according to a statement. Under the Drug-Free Gujarat campaign, the police have arrested at least 26 accused in 15 cases, lodged in the city.
In the statement issued Saturday, the Vadodara Special Operations Group (SOG) said that with the use of human intelligence and technology, the city police has seized significant quantities of opioid based cough syrups, Tramadol and alprazolam tablets, marijuana (ganja), hashish (charas) as well as hybrid ganja, registering the 15 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act between December 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025.
The Vadodara city police said it had seized 283.7 kg of ganja worth Rs 28.30 lakh and 1.23 kilos of hybrid ganja worth Rs 37.02 lakh. The police also seized 7380 bottles of cough syrups worth Rs 16.75 lakh and 1.59 lakh Tramadol capsules worth Rs 15.57 lakh, 3.69 Alpaprazol tablet worth Rs 15.42 lakh as well as 6.09 kilos of MD drugs worth Rs 6.09 lakh have been seized in the crackdown.
