If we want to stay strong to ensure that no country pressurises us or makes us bow down before it, we will have to move to Swadeshi and only then the dream of developed India will be fulfilled, said Gujarat BJP chief and Union Minister C R Paatil on Friday.

Paatil was addressing media persons at Gujarat BJP state headquarters, Shree Kamalam, in Gandhinagar to promote the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign, a nationwide call for which has been given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Paatil was joined by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on the occasion.

Highlighting the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat and buying indigenous products under it, Paatil said, “For Atmanirbhar Bharat, ‘Vocal for Local’ is the best way. Mahatma Gandhi used to advocate for Swadeshi. The reasons were different then. But today, if we want to stay strong to ensure that no country makes us bow down before it or pressurises us, we will have to go to Swadeshi. And only then, we will realise the dream of a developed India. And we will not have to bow down before anybody.”

On the occasion, Paatil said following the call of Atmanirbhar Bharat given by PM Narendra Modi, Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan is being carried out between September 25 (birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhyay) and December 25 (birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajapayee). He said that PM Modi has stated that the road to developed India passes through Atmabirbhar Bharat. The campaign is going to run for 90 days.

“Swadeshi does not mean that we boycott any goods, but the objective is that we should use indigenous goods. Our workers will go door to door to paste stickers on Swadeshi and ask people to resolve to adopt indigenous goods. Celebrities will make reels on Swadeshi. Competitions on Swadeshi like elocution competition, skits and essay writing will be organised,” Paatil said.

Giving further details on the programmes to be organised by BJP workers, Paatil said that more than 1,000 Swadeshi melas and more than 20,000 Atmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp workshops will be held in the country. More than 500 foot marches on Atmanirbhar Bharat will be organised. Also, shop owners selling indigenous goods will be given certificates.

Paatil said that if people buy foreign goods under any influence, it will create hurdles in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

He also highlighted the initiatives such as ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’ launched by PM Modi and its positive impact on the country’s economy.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel appealed to people to buy indigenous goods and join the Atmanirbhar Bharat Campaign. “The meaning of Swadeshi is not only to increase production but also to lay special emphasis on the quality of local production,” Patel said.
