The Vadodara city police on Tuesday conducted the reconstruction of the alleged murder of a 31-year-old migrant labourer, Irshad Banjara, after formally arresting his wife Gulbano who allegedly killed Banjara on the night of November 18 with the help of two accomplices.

On Tuesday, the Vadodara city police arrived at the Chotrawala Faliya of Tandalja along with Gulbano and conducted a reconstruction at the scene of crime – the house inhabited by the victim and the accused.

Police officials said the pillow and the dupatta used to strangulate Banjara was recovered from the house. Police officials also added that Gulbano had confessed that her co-accused Mohammad Tausif had handed her a packet of sleeping pills on November 18 , which she mixed with a glass of milk and administered to an unsuspecting Banjara on the night of November 18.

Thereafter, Gulbano allegedly called Tausif and his maternal uncle identified as Mehtab. The accused allegedly tied a dupatta round Banjara’s neck while also smothering him with a pillow until he died. The police case is that Gulbano, on November 19, called Banjara’s family and informed them that he had passed away in the night after complaining of chest pain. While his burial rites were carried out immediately, his older brother Imitiyaz grew suspicious and approached the police.

Banjara’s body was exhumed as per the process on Sunday and sent for post-mortem, in which, the primary cause of death was confirmed to be that of asphyxia due to strangulation. A team of the Vadodara city police has been sent to Mumbai to track down Tausif and Mehtab.
